AI Toolkit for STEM Education

The following resource compiles a range of AI tools that are useful in the Department of Engineering. The aim of this toolkit is to have a collaborative space where colleagues can share best practices and state-of-the-art AI tools. Work in Progress.

Key Issues for AI

Transparency or how much information they provide about their algorithms, training data, etc…
🕵️ Private
The way they process the information you use as input in their service.
✔️ Validity
How accurate or reliable are the outputs of the service.
⚖️ Non-biased
Encompasses digital poverty, accessibility, EDI, etc…
🛡️ Ethical
Encompasses a wide range of topics. For instance, how was training data sourced? the case of translators, actors, graphic designers, etc…. Another example is carbon emissions for minimal improvements

The presence of an icon represents “good” practice around the category. However, categories are better considered as a spectrum rather than binary classification.
